Making Up for a Really Serious Previous Post with Dog Photos

While I was home in Ohio for Thanksgiving, I went to my aunt’s house to make pumpkin rolls with my cousin, Bethany. For the longest time, I thought her mother had invented pumpkin rolls. And by “for the longest time”, I mean “up until last year, when I went to her house to learn to make them for the first time and was horrified to see her bring out a COOKBOOK with a RECIPE for them”. There’s an art to making these things (wet towels, powdered sugar, rolling them up using the cookbook itself) that no cookbook could ever explain, though, so I’m still half-illusioned.

Anyway, my cousin is a vet down in Virginia and ended up rescuing a dog from certain death and giving her what I assume is a loving-to-the-point-of-smothering home. Her name, Honey, belongs to strippers and other unloved women, but I somehow love her despite that and think she’s super-photographable. So now I’m going to subject you to a hundred pictures of her doing basically the same thing over and over just to be able to try out my new Elembee-designed watermark. Which she appears to be looking at in half the pictures. Which I’m sure you know delights me to no end.

And my favourite one:

Love the photos– especially the last one of her asleep.

Photograhing dogs can be an adventure. We wrangled our three into somewhat-submission for some Christmas photos last night.

  2. I am violently anti-dog right now, but dogs like that dog make me want another dog.

Even though I’m roughly 2 1/2 pee stains away from leaving the dog I have at the pound. SHE RUINED MY URBAN OUTFITTERS RUG, KATIE. RUINED. IT.

Ahem. Sorry. Just needed to vent, there.

She looks like such a sweet girl. Who couldn’t love that dog? What kind of treat was being held up, to warrant such rapt attention?

Pumpkin rolls and puppy dogs? Time to buy my plane ticket to Ohio.

Sweet potato pie! I’m reading this while (as usual) covered in small red hairs that used to be attached to Honey Louise (the louise makes her sound less like a stripper). And you’re not allowed to write funny stuff for me to read when I’m in my office, which is really a cubicle. Stifling my belly laughs makes me gassy!

Awww I just wanna hug her in that last one!

About these pumpkin rolls, I’ve been dying to try a recipe for those I found at beyond kimchee http://www.beyondkimchee.com/pumpkin-dinner-rolls/. Someday I will and you’ll have to tell me if they can even compare.

That dog has silky ears. I know, because I touched them.

I’m sorry I missed the photo-shoot portion of that night. It makes me sad to know you can take such great pet photos without me standing over your shoulder doing ridiculous things to get the animal to look at your lens.

At least I was there for the first half of pumpkin-roll-making and the cell phone dance party portion of the evening.

Those eyes!! Do you know how many women would kill for that kohl look?!

    I need a dog. NEED.

  10. AWWWwwww!
P.S. Don’t tell my wife I said that. It would totally work against me in the future.

  11. Cassie says:

I love that last one! I LOVE IT! I WANT IT. I want that dog.

I’ll trade them Sadie. You think that’ll fly? I mean, Sadie sleeps all the time.
