A couple of months back, I won a contest hosted by Elembee for graphic design services by the lovely and talented Lisa Butler. Lisa’s been a long-time blogfriend thanks to our mutual friendship with Mrs. Bachelor Girl, so I knew I could count on her for an honest opinion and asked if I could use my prize for some much-needed advice about my branding.
I was working with
a) the hastily-designed Ettible Photography logo that I made with my very limited skills, and
b) a completely un-designed Katie Ett business card with some stock fonts and colors from one of those free sites,
and neither of them suited me very well. The problem was that I didn’t know what suited me.
Luckily, Lisa did. Not only did she give me the best possible advice about consolidating my photography and blogging into a single business card, but she sent me a draft of some logos that were so incredibly spot-on it was like she had burrowed into my brain and yanked out the best things I think about myself and my photography and put them down on paper. They were just girly enough without being full of rainbows and butterflies (seriously, so many butterfly photography logos out there), and she totally got that I need to go practical when it comes to my food photos and flourish-y when it comes to my portraits. It was revelatory for me, let me tell you.
After a couple of back-and-forths with some tweaks–I’m evidently kind of picky when it comes to things like design that I know nothing about–here’s what Lisa came up with for me:
Couldn’t. Love. More. I’m basically only taking pictures from now on just to be able to watermark them with these.
I’m so happy to recommend Lisa’s design services, Elembee Creative.
Also check out her portfolio.
And then her blog.
And then contact Elembee to get started on your own revelatory logo design.

GORGEOUS. All of them.
Gorgeous! Love all of them. Congrats on figuring out your brand!
I don’t get the “e”. Is it supposed to look like a butt hole?
You are the worst person in the world.
It’s an aperture!
LOL… I knew what it was… I just wanted to make sure you never look at it the same way again.
Yah, when you sent me the watermark logo, I nearly crapped my pants. So impressed!
Isn’t she marvelous?! I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth and then some with my own logo (I could play around with two Ps all day long and never think to make a camera out of them). And yours is AWESOME! I agree, they’re very, very you. Lisa’s a genius. Now get to watermarking!
Of course it was your logo that first made me think I’d want Lisa to do mine. It’s so simple and elegant and clever.
I love them! Great job Lisa!
And now I’m blushing. I’m so glad you love them!!
LOVE!
WUT?!
No Comic Sans?!
No Papyrus?!
*snort*
Seriously, though… very, very cool!
