I’ll be visiting my family and (real, not-just-out-of-convenience) friends (haha, just kidding, wonderful and supportive NYC friends) in Ohio for the rest of the week!
So far, my plans include:
• reluctantly eating home cooking when I know there’s a Dairy Queen 10 miles away (which in no way reflects the quality of the home cooking)
• photographing one of our scrapbooks for a brand new blog-in-the-making with my best friend, Tracey
• dancing at Skully’s on Ladies 80s night, which now apparently includes 90s songs (blasphemy!)
• making Dishy’s pumpkin whoopie pies and some sort of (hopefully many sorts of) cupcakes
• planning entire days of scrapbooking based around where Tracey and I want to eat beforehand and afterward
• getting sprinkles for the first time ever on my favourite ice cream from the best ice cream parlor in the whole world, Graeter’s
• trying to figure out why my parents’ TV is always set to the Hallmark channel whenever I turn it on
• as little else as possible
PUMPED!

oooh, have fun! i’m totally jealous, i was a regular at ladies 80s until i moved and probably still would be if i lived in columbus. there is no place better to dance all night!! and eat lots of graeters, and jeni’s too, missing those way too much.
Tracey and I feel really bad, because neither of us is a big drinker, and since we get in for free, the place is lucky to make $3 off of us. I’m sure it’s the same if you go to the same places all the time in NYC, but I just love that the exact same people are at Skully’s every Thursday. If the generic girl in the black t-shirt and glasses wasn’t humping the railing up on stage every time I go, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.
I don’t drink anymore either, so I feel like spending $3 for the whole night would make up for times like this weekend where I was charged $8 for the world’s tiniest bottle of water + $10 parking + $25 ticket + $12 “processing fee”. Karma!!
Also, I’m on REAL spring break right now and it is totally weird to be a 27 year old self respecting woman saying that, but whatever, I’m into it.
Sound like the best faux Spring Break ever!
Also, there is a Dairy Queen in the entrance to my neighborhood. And I totally don’t feel guilty ordering baby blizzards.
Oh, sure, I mean, you have to feed the baby, and it’s not your fault the baby likes baby Blizzards. And once the baby is born, it won’t be your fault that you have to switch back to the adult-sized Blizzards, either.
Damn straight.
OOoh Can’t WAIT to hear all the goings-on after they go on! Especially can’t wait for you & Tracey to make whoopie pies … Oooooooohh golly – getting hungry just thinking about those lil babies. I have a cupcake for you two to try too:
Mexican Chocolate Cupcakes
They’re by Meg of Writemeg! fame — one of Nat’s book blogging buddies. I am DYING To make them, but John doesn’t like watering down his FIRE with things like chocolate, and the girls don’t like spice that much – and I really shouldn’t eat 2 dozen cupcakes myself, though I may have to.
I have to run out to the airport, but I just wanted to say how great those cupcakes look! Thanks! Come to Ohio this weekend and sample them with us!
Katie – if I could travel without fear of repercussion, ever – it would be for a girls weekend of cupcake indulgence. Safe and happy travels and a wonderful spring break to you all!
Yippee! Spring break in Ohio! Come and see us if you can fit it in!
Sounds like Ohio is bumpin’ (for Ohio) I’ll make it a point to slow down or even stop or gas next time I drive through :-P
That sounds like the funnest spring break EVER, in my opinion.
Makes you wonder why people even BOTHER with Panama City and South Padre Island.
And now I want a cookie dough blizzard.
Have fun!!
I’m so pumped that we actually did most of the things on this list!
And so, so sad that it went so fast and you’re already gone.
