My expat community got incredibly lucky this year. Someone in our midst is related to a Girl Scout living with her folks on a military base near here. She put out the call to help her niece and what could we do? We flooded her with orders that arrived a couple of days later. My Thin Mints are but a pleasant memory.
Samoas, oh samoas. I gave up chocolate for Lent, and then two boxes of these babies arrived. I look at them longingly every day. Easter is going to be a chow fest and I may or may not end up in a chocolate coconut induced coma.
Ooh the tagalongs (peanut butter patties) ate my favorite. But I’d eat a box of samoas too, no problem. I haven’t had a girl scout cookie in yrs. I ate so many of them as a kid. One year our house was the “cookie den” for my troop. You’ve never known true bliss until you’ve had a basement full of girl scout cookies. Case upon case. As far as the eye can see.
Did you know that in some parts of the country, samoas aren’t called samoas? They’re called something ridiculous like caramel coconut happiness rings or something. They’re in the exact same purple box and everything. Those girl scouts have quite the conspiracy going…
I probably would have started gnawing on the box when the cookies were gone.
Just in case some of the cardboard had become Samoa infused.
Better to be safe than sorry.
I never buy samoas anymore because I’d eat the whole box in a SECOND.

ABOUT
I'm Katie, a farmgirl originally from Ohio who moved to NYC in 2005 for no apparent reason. I like vintage-looking things that are actually new, filagree everything, people who don't make me feel awkward, meaning it when I say "no sleep till Brooklyn", and not trying too hard.

A drink for lunch? Make mine a Martini.
Dirty.
You’re not alone, I had Tagalongs for most of my meals this weekend.
Do you have a Safeway out there? They sell a rip off of the Samoa…year round baby!
I”m doing the Homer Simpson drool over those Samoas. Definitely my favorites.
Samoas are one of my “trigger foods.” Just one, and I become the Girl Scout cookie equivalent of a desperate crack whore.

They look yum! Wish we had them in GB, coconut is my favourite!

We need to do a sweets swap one day!
