Campbell’s Gets the Last Laugh at the Andy Warhol Monument

Filed under living in new york is neat

While in Union Square the other night, Kamran and I noticed that the Andy Warhol Monument had been defaced:

Andy Warhol Monument NYC

Andy Warhol Monument NYC

Andy Warhol Monument NYC

The question is: was it done out of love (an admirer playing a bit of a practical joke) or out of hate (a fellow artist scorning Andy with the very thing that he’s remembered by most)? Either way, I think it’s brilliant.

It was probably done in ignorance, and that is just a shame.

    That makes me so sad.

The Andy Warhol Museum is here in Pittsburgh, as he’s a native, and it’s by far the most amazing museum ever to be in existence.

    Much love for him.

What a beautiful statue! Such lovely photos, Katie.

Sorry to see it got souped.

  4. I vote love. That’s just too perfect.

Also, this post kind of made me hungry. Isn’t that Donuts 4 Dinner’s job?

It’s an interesting statement, either way.

I doubt someone doing it in ignorance would have chosen Campbell’s and left the can.

Also, why have I never seen this statue in person? I’ve been to Union Square with you multiple times! You’re not doing a good job of telling me where to see stuff in NYC.
