Sometimes when it’s really nasty outside–raining so hard I’m soaked to the thigh in seconds, snowing so much that people are literally cross-country skiing down the streets–I think to myself, “Is it worth it to jump out in front of this cab right now just to be able to stay home from work tomorrow?”

I used to have those thoughts all the time: “OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY I BET IF I RAN MY CAR OFF INTO A DITCH, I COULD STAY HOME ALL WEEK AND MY BOSS COULDN’T SAY ANYTHING!!”
Nevertheless, I vote no.
You really shouldn’t think so hard (this post) after just hurting your head (yesterday’s post). Just a thought (not a deep one though)
GOD, I used to think that every single day when I was teaching middle school. I’m amazed I never gave in to the intense temptation to throw myself down the stairs leaving my apartment.
This requires nothing more than a “Hells yes.”
Some mornings, I think, “I’d punch a puppy to stay in bed. Or slap a baby, or laugh at a disabled person.”
Oh, I’ve totally done that before.
Well, it wasn’t on purpose (I tripped) and it wasn’t a cab (it was a bike – I have been hit by bikes three times) and there was no form of inclement weather occurring. But it was absolutely worth it.
